Bear watching in Tofino is an incredible experience! Tofino, located on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife. The area is home to a healthy population of black bears, making it an ideal destination for bear watching. The Browning Passage Yacht provides the opportunity to explore the rugged coastline of Tofino from a unique vantage point. Cruise along the shoreline, marvel at towering mountains and lush forests, and keep an eye out for other wildlife such as eagles, seals, and whales along the way.

BOAT: 37 ft Canoe Cove Yacht

TOUR DURATION: 3.5 - 4 hours

  • Canoe Cove Yacht features upper and front outdoor viewing decks with a heated indoor cabin with on-board washroom.

  • Maximum 12 passengers.

  • Check-in time for the tour is 30 minutes before departure time.

  • Departure times vary depending on low tides & daylight.

PREPARE FOR YOUR BEAR WATCHING TOUR

  • On the Browning Passage you can bring water and lite snacks (granola bar, apple, nuts, etc) on the boat. *This is the only boat

    that allows snacks.

  • Guests are advised not to wear strong smelling deodorants, cologne or perfumes on the tour.

  • Noise and movement must be kept to a minimum aboard the vessels to not disturb the black bears.

  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted on the boat or in our safety gear at any time.

  • This vessel has a washroom on board.

 

  • WHAT TO BRING:

    Dress warmly in layers for the open boat (long sleeves, pants, fleece or sweater)

    Rain gear (if it is raining)

    Enclosed shoes (sandals not recommended)

    Winter hat and gloves (early Spring / late Fall)

    Binoculars

    Camera

    Drinking water

    Sunglasses / sunscreen

    Lite snacks (granola bar, apple, nuts, etc)

  • Black Bears! Plus Harbour Seals, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Heron and occasionally we see Coastal Grey Wolves and Killer Whales.

  • This bear watching tour is 3.5 - 4 hours.

  • While we love sharing the experience of watching bears and other wildlife with our guests, we also follow guidelines to ensure we’re not encroaching on or disturbing the wildlife in its natural habitat.

    On our bear watching tours, we aim to keep a safe and respectful distance from the bears to ensure that they never feel threatened by our presence or we alter their behaviour in any way.

  • Our Bear Watching tours have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If any cancellations are received, including a reduction in the passenger numbers, within 48 hours of the tour departure refunds will not be issued.
