BEAR WATCHING TOURS START IN APRIL

The Tofino Bear Watching Tours start up again in April. All bear watching tours navigate the calm and protected waters around Meares Island at low tide in search for black bears foraging on crabs and fish. The daily bear tours run 2.5 hours and are offered on our Open-Air Boston Whaler Boats and the heated cabin cruiser boat. The bear watching tour times change daily with the low tide. If you are not sure how to find your departure time - call our office or go to book online and find your preferred tour date. We typically start to see black bear cubs in May come down to the shoreline with their mom to learn how to forage.

The season winds up in October as the bears head to our rivers to feast on salmon as they prepare to skip storm watching season entirely to enter torpor, a state of deep sleep through winter.

We recommend this tour for guests who prefer calm and protected waters.
